All-New Chevy Trax Destined to Lead Small SUV Segment, Boasts Sporty and Practical Aesthetic

After the spring has brought all of us here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis it’s first round of budding trees, clearer pavement, and so many activities to load the family up into a small-size SUV and hit the road, we couldn’t be happier! GM Authority was the first to give us the official scoop on an all-new Chevy Trax that will be set to come around later this year after the current model is discontinued during the tail end of this calendar year.
The new model will most likely be the Chevy crossover coupe that we had reported on earlier this winter, with styling similar to what is found on the Tracker and sporty Chevy Blazer, with the new model riding on a variant of the popular and very capable GM VSS-F platform. The power source will be a turbocharged, smaller-displacement gas engine, with front-wheel drive as standard, and all-wheel drive as an incremental-weather ready option. With its value-minded price tag, very agile handling, and excellent outward visibility, the current-model 2022 Trax impressed the Car and Driver staff with its refinement and value.
The standard touchscreen infotainment includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the LT trim level adds cruise control, rear-window tint, heated exterior mirrors, and remote start. A firm ride and very steady handling give the Trax a pleasantly solid feeling, and there’s less leaning in corners than you’d expect given the Trax’s taller stature, with brakes that are among the strongest in its class. The front-wheel-drive Trax earned EPA ratings of 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway, and situating yourself with all-wheel-drive nets you 30 mpg highway.
The Trax also comes with a very well-integrated, easy-to-use touchscreen mounted at the top of the dashboard and the 7.0-inch touchscreen responds quickly to all inputs while also including the very latest smartphone-integration capabilities. Key safety features on the current-model Trax include available forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear parking sensors.
One of the best parts about getting into a pre-owned car or new lease here at Jim Butler is the warranty coverage: The Trax offers its first scheduled maintenance visit as complimentary, and a Limited warranty for 3 years of 36,000 miles, along with a powertrain warranty that covers 5 years or 60,000 miles. The shorter wheelbase and tidy dimension aids the Trax in feeling nimble around town, and checks all of the necessary boxes drivers want from a crossover SUV today with enthusiasm and competence. You’ll also be enjoying 19 cubic feet of cargo space with row two situated upright, and more than 48 cubes with it folded.
